Music Hath Charms

Late 17th century poet William Congreve wrote "Music hath charms to soothe a savage breast, to soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak." These words still apply in today's society and you can go into just about any coffee shop or microbrewery and see someone performing some live music. On Thursday night, December 27, 2018 I had the opportunity to witness a young musician, Jake Taylor, play the acoustic guitar at the Poe House in Hendersonville, NC and I came away totally impressed. Jake is a young musician that hails from Narrows, VA. He has an eclectic selection of musical influences from Ed Shearin to Allen Stone to Eminem. Jake played a combination of cover tunes and some of his own songs and he played all of them with heart and soul to an appreciative audience. He encouraged crowd interaction and had a nice exchange with those in attendance. Some of my favorites were his cover of Allen Stone's "The Bed That I Made" to one of his own songs "Happy." Jake has his own YouTube Channel and it can be found at ReDDmusic88. It is well worth checking out. You will not be disappointed.
